Korthoff Preston has rebranded for the 2025 season as Korthoff Competition Motors, with the support of their new partner, Competition Motors. The team confirmed their entry in the upcoming IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, continuing their GTD class with the #32 Mercedes-AMG GT3. This marks their fifth season in the GTD class and eighth overall in the championship.
The full-season driver lineup will include the return of former Rolex 24 winner Kenton Koch, along with the young rising star Seth Lucas, who has already made a name for himself in LMP2 competition. Now stepping into GTD, Seth’s impressive adaptability and raw talent continue to garner attention as he looks to build on his growing motorsport career. Max Goetz, a platinum-rated driver with extensive endurance racing experience, will also rejoin the team as a factory driver for the longer endurance events.
Team owner Herb Korthoff stated, “We are excited for the return of Kenton Koch and the introduction of our newest driver Seth Lucas as our dynamic young stars. Their talent and energy will be complemented by the wisdom and experience of Max Goetz. This combination gives us a strong lineup as we approach the season. We believe it will position us well to be competitive in the upcoming season.”
Koch expressed his sentiment about returning to the team: “I am thrilled to be back with Korthoff Competition Motors for another season. It’s been awesome to have been here the last two years in the endurance role and now have the opportunity to pair with Seth for the full season will be a treat. I’ve known Maxi from his 24 hour runs with us the last two years and am happy to have his expertise in all the long races now. I can’t thank Herb, Walt, and the team enough for the opportunity!”
“I’m very excited to be working with Korthoff Competition Motors next season in the Mercedes-AMG! Huge thanks to Herb, Walt, and the team for believing in me and giving me the chance to make my GTD debut.” Seth Lucas
"With Competition Motors as our partner and a strong lineup of Kenton Koch, Seth Lucas, and Max Goetz, we’re poised for a great year. Last season’s podium finishes, including Long Beach Grand Prix and Indy Battle on the Bricks along with winning at VIR Michelin GT Challenge helped us to third in the WeatherTech Championship. We’re ready to push the limits once again.” Walter Preston, Team Manager and Engineer
Korthoff Competition Motors is prepared for a strong showing in the 2025 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. With the #32 Mercedes-AMG GT3 leading the charge in the GTD class, fans can expect an exciting and competitive season ahead.
